Eureka Library To Host Kansas Author

Eureka Public Library will be hosting Kansas author Sandra Lou Taylor on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 6:30 p.m. Taylor is a native-born Kansan who lives with her husband on their small farm at the southwestern edge of the Flint Hills where her family has lived since 1925. Her favorite pastimes include gardening, reading, and entertaining her two border collies. Taylor writes historical fiction, memoirs, and nonfiction. She has been published multiple times in the Emporiabased 105 Meadowlark Reader. She is active in the Kansas Authors Club and is currently president of District 5.

Taylor’s presentation is “Historical Fiction Stories from More Than An Attractive Face.” More Than An Attractive Face is Taylor’s recently published book. In the book, Elizabeth Spaulding demands to be recognized as more than a pretty face. She runs away from an arranged marriage to an odious wealthy suitor. From the moment she arrives in the town of Mooresville, Ind., challenges confront her. She soon discovers opportunities to support herself in the frontier are more limited than in her hometown of Albany, New York. Community men disparage her character and confront her physically. How will she survive as an unemployed woman on the frontier unless she agrees to marry?

Taylor will do readings from the book and be available to answer questions about the book and the writing process. She will also have books available for purchase.
