Madison USD 386 Held Three Interviews For New Superintendent

The Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board of Education held three special meetings last week, where the board held interviews for the open Superintendent position for next school year. The board interviewed two current principals and a current superintendent.

On Monday, Feb. 3, following the oath of office being given to newly elected President Dallas Luthi, the board entered an executive session for one-hour with superintendent candidate Lewis Whitson, current K-12 Principal at Hartford-Neosho Rapids. The board held two additional executive sessions, totaling 35 minutes, for personnel matters. After returning to open session, the board approved to hire Ramsey Belt as elementary night custodian.

A second special meeting was held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, where the board held a 45 minute executive session for personnel matters with Amy Ricks, current Superintendent at Bucklin. The board then held a two additional executive sessions for personnel matters; the first with the board for 10 minutes and the second for five minutes with the board only. No action was taken.

The third special meeting last week was held on Thursday, Feb. 6. The board held a one-hour executive session with Dallas Woolf, current high school principal at Russell. The board held three additional executive sessions for personnel matters totaling 100-minutes (three 30-minutes and one 10-minutes) with administration.

No action was taken.

The school board was also slated to meet on Monday, Feb. 10 for their regular monthly meeting.
