Elk County Cobras Competed At Battle Of The Belt & Drop The Hammer Tournaments
Elk County Wrestling (ECW) Cobras had a busy weekend, competing in three days of wrestling.
Members of the ECW first traveled to Mulvane on Friday and Saturday for the annual Battle of the Belt competition before traveling to Iola on Sunday for the Drop the Hammer tournament.
Following are the individual match wins for ECW participants:
Battle of The Belt 8U Novice 49: Flint Pope won a 6-1 decision over Glenn Iv Hawks (Thunderbird Wrestling Club).
10U Novice 79: Maverick Ford placed 3rd. He won by forfeit over Kent Cox (Team Haysville); won a 7-2 decision over Avery Hunt (Kansas Young Guns); won a 5-4 decision in a tie breaker over Jaxxon Browning (St. Marys); and won a 26-0 tech fall over J. Cody Phipps (Clearwater).
8U Boys 100: Tristen Mast placed 3rd. He won a 6-4 decision over Hunter Grandon (Jayhawk).
10U Boys 82: Kash Bidwell won an 8-1 decision over Hayden Lawrence (Team Lightning).
6U Girls 55: Axl Ellsbury placed 4th. She won by fall over Ellisen Clark (Halstead) (Fall 0:12); won by fall over Oakley McCann (Marysville) (Fall 0:17); and won by fall over Charlotte Peguero (Ogden’s Outlaws) (Fall 0:41).
8U Girls 45: Hendrix Ellsbury placed 2nd. She won by fall over Quinn Edison (Wichita Blue Knights) (Fall 0:52); and won by fall over Skarlette Bailey (Junction City) (Fall 0:57).
12U Girls 120: Pyper Ford won by fall over Claire Gray (Falcon Empire) (Fall 0:47).
15U Girls 101: Emma Baumgartel placed 6th. She won by fall over Lilliana Grant (Maize WC) (Fall 2:39).
Drop the Hammer 6u Boys 37- 3 9 : Jayce Baumgartel placed 2nd. He won by fall over Benson Solis (Fredonia Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:47); and won a 17-1 tech fall over Colton Gericke (Chanute Wrestling Club).
8u Girls 39-46: Hendrix Ellsbury placed 1st. She won by fall over Nova Webb (Chanute Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:37); and won by fall over Piper Thomas (Red Devil Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:25).
6U Girls 51-54: Axl Ellsbury placed 1st. She won by fall over Mia Nothern (Chanute Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:00); and won by fall over Brinnley Hays (Iola Kids Wrestling) (Fall 0:14) Also representing ECW was Taybor Galvan, 10U Novice 110.
