After a dominant performance against the Olpe Eagles, the Eureka Lady Tornadoes hit the road to take on the Chase County Bulldogs. Despite a strong second-half effort, the Tornadoes couldn’t overcome an early deficit and fell 4044, marking their fourth loss of the season.
Eureka opened the game with a three-pointer from Laynie Winfrey, but offensive struggles plagued them for the rest of the quarter. The Bulldogs capitalized, extending their lead to 18-6.
Chase County continued their momentum in the second quarter with a quick layup. Winfrey responded with another three, but Eureka struggled to close the gap. The Bulldogs’ height advantage proved crucial as they controlled the boards on both ends of the floor, giving them a 28-21 lead at halftime.
Eureka fought back in the second half, outscoring and outworking Chase County. They held the Bulldogs to just four points in the third quarter, capping it off with a buzzer- beater from Winfrey.
Despite their relentless push, the Tornadoes couldn’t erase the deficit they faced in the first half, falling just short in the final minutes.
