Toronto Family Lost Home/Belongings In Sunday Blaze
Toronto Home Destroyed In Sunday Fire

A Toronto family lost all of their belongings in a house fire on Sunday, Jan. 26.

According to Toronto Fire Chief Josh DeHoux, the fire was reported just after 3 p.m. The home, located at 355 70th Road, had fire through the roof and fire showing on three of the four sides when crews arrived.

All residents and their pets were able to get out without injury; however, all possessions were lost.

The cause of the fire is believed to have been started by a space heater.

Crews battled the fire until approximately 7 p.m. and returned multiple times on Monday for hot spots.

The home is owned by Rick and Cora Tyner, who resided in the home with a granddaughter.

Donations for the Tyners are being collected at The Eureka Herald, located 822 E. River St. in Eureka. As of press time, the following sizing was shared with our office, Mens: 32x34 jeans, medium shirts; womens: size 4 jeans, medium shirts.

Crews responding to the call included: Toronto Fire Department, Toronto Fire Auxiliary and the following Woodson County departments: Rural Fire, EMS, Emergency Management and the Sheriff’s Office.
