The Eureka Tornado junior high basketball teams hosted the Bullpups of Caney on Thursday, Jan. 23, where the Tornadoes went 1-4.
Eureka’s B-team girls claimed the lone victory over the Bullpups. The Lady Tornadoes claimed the two-quarter victory, 11-5. Scoring for the Tornadoes were Kaylee Palmer 6, Andee Weatherby 3 and Brielle Thompson with 2, In A-team action, the Lady Tornadoes trailed 6-14 after the first, 9-21 in the second, 13-28 in the third and lost the game 15-33. Scoring for Eureka were Bella Damron 5, McKenna McDonald and Annabell Bogle each with 4 and Celona Hall 2.
Eureka’s A-team boys went shot for shot against the Bullpups in the first quarter, ending the quarter tied up at 11. The back-andforth action continued in the second but the Bullpups claimed an edge over the Tornadoes at halftime by 2, 15-17. The third quarter was plagued by forced passes, resulting in several turnovers by the Tornadoes and Eureka trailed 19-32 going into the final quarter. The Tornadoes lost the game 22-44. Scoring for Eureka were Wacey Ross 8, Christian Sanchez 6, JaKolby Robbins 4 and Tate Scott 2.
In Tornado B-team boy action, Eureka was unable to get a basket in the first and trailed 0-14. The Tornadoes recorded two-points in the next three quarters and fell to Caney, 6-35. Scoring for Eureka were Cash Escareno, Dylan Conard and Henry Perrier all with 2.
Eureka’s C-team boys were able to play two quarters against Caney, and fell 4-14. Scoring for the Tornadoes were Gavin Gonzales and Asher Euler each with 2.

The Eureka Tornadoes will play their final regular season match-up this Thursday, Jan. 30 at Fredonia. Eureka will then compete in the Tri-Valley League tournament Feb. 3, 6 and 8.
