The Madison Bulldog High School basketball teams went 3-1 for the week, with the Lady Bulldogs remaining undefeated and moving into this week of action 8-0.
Madison claimed both the boys and girls varsity games, on Tuesday, Jan. 14, against Northern Heights.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Wildcats of Northern Heights, 41-11. Leading the Lady Bulldogs were seniors Jalynn Weakley, 20 and Candice Ashlock, 7.
Madison’s boys team claimed an early 18-point lead in the first, 20-2. The Bulldogs led 29-17 at halftime and 39-22 going into the final stanza. Madison won the game 46-35. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Brayden Grimmett 18, Octavian Dean 9, Cory Yowell and Cade Hurlburt each with 6, Colton Isch 3 and Will Grimmett 2.
The Bulldogs then battled Burlingame, where they split with the Bearcats.
The Lady Bulldogs dominated the Bearcats, 58-37, with three Ladies scoring in double digits to move to 8-0 for the season. Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs were Weakley 17, Jenna Thomsen 15 and Ashlock 11.
Madison boys were within three after the first two quarters, 5-8 and 19-22, but they only saw one three-point basket in the third and trailed 22-34 going into the final quarter. The Bulldogs lost the game 39-51. Scoring for Madison were Dean 14, Isch 11, Hurlburt 6, Grimmett and Yowell each with 3 and Lane Smith 2.

The Bulldogs will host Olpe this Thursday, Jan. 23 and Marais Des Cygnes Valley (MdCV) on Friday, Jan. 24 before competing in the Lyon County League Tournament next week, Jan. 27-31, in Emporia.
