The Eureka High School boys basketball team began the 2025 portion of the season Friday, Jan. 17 against the Burlington Wildcats. The number 7 ranked (3A) ‘Cats were too much for the rusty Tornadoes, who hadn’t played since before Christmas due to weather. Burlington lived up to its billing, easily handling the Tornadoes 71-13.
The Tornadoes shot a miserable 4 for 33 from the field against the bigger and faster Burlington squad. Defensively, they had no answer for the sharp-shooting Wildcats, who hit 63% of their field goals, including 8 of 16 from beyond the arc.
Cole Ptacek led the Tornadoes with 5 points. Tanner Biering had 3, Peyton Hare and Tristan Milner had 2 each and Easton Mead had 1.
