Calvin Wayne Johnson

Calvin Wayne Johnson, age 83 of rural Eureka, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Eureka Nursing Center.

Calvin was born Feb. 10, 1941 in rural Fall River, the son of Albert and Julia (Benson) Johnson. Calvin was a graduate of Severy High School, class of 1958. He then graduated from Auctioneer school in Mason City, Iowa in the fall of 1958. Calvin joined the Kansas Army National Guard in January 1964 to serve his country.

Calvin and his brother Louis had an auction business, Johnson Bros. Auctioneers. He started auctioning at the Eureka Livestock barn at 17 years of age, and continued auctioning there for 50 years. Calvin auctioned at numerous sale barns over the years and retired in 2016 from the auction business. He enjoyed working with his cattle and spending time with his family.

On Dec. 1, 1962, he was united in marriage to Glenda June Glover in Fredonia. They made their home on a ranch southeast of Eureka.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda of the home, daughter, Connie Nichols and husband Mark of rural Eureka; son, Clinton Johnson and wife Angie of El Dorado; grandchildren: Jason Nichols and wife Ashley of rural Eureka, Charlie Ann Rodriquez and husband Arthur of Salina, Cierra Johnson of Wichita and Korbin Johnson of El Dorado; great-grandchildren: Wyatt “John Henry” Nichols, Amelia and Olivia Rodriquez; brothers, Louis Johnson and Carl Johnson of Severy, sister, Evelyn Benest of Climax; and several nieces and nephews.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at South Lawn Cemetery, Severy.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Severy Senior Center and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
